At-Large DC Councilmember Christina Henderson is seeking a Staff Assistant with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The position requires the ability to multitask, a strong customer service attitude, and an interest in policy. Responsibilities include but are not limited to managing the front desk, providing administrative support for the office, and assisting with the legislative portfolio through research and other tasks. A successful applicant for the Staff Assistant position will be detail-orientated, a problem solver, a collaborative team member, familiar with local DC policy issues, and passionate about serving DC residents.

Responsibilities:

• General reception duty (ie., greeting visitors, screening phone calls)

• Perform research on policy issues and programs

• Monitor hearings and draft memos for internal office use

• Analyze and summarize proposed legislation

• Draft correspondence from the office

• Other duties as assigned

Requirements: Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Residency in the District of Columbia within six months of hire is required.

Salary: $70,000-75,000 plus benefits including student loan repayment assistance and subsidized public transportation.
