This bill would help families save for their children’s education by increasing the maximum account contribution limit for the District’s College Savings Plan and requiring the plan contribution cap adjust to changing educational costs over time.

This bill would require proactive budgeting for replacing public trash and recycling containers around the District by including the cost of modernizing trash containers in future capital projects.

As introduced, the Consumer Levies on Obstructive Garbage Amendment Act of 2026 would tax the sale of disposable wipes, remove the sales tax from the sale of bidets, and direct taxes raised from the sale of disposable wipes to the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority for capital improvements to sewer lines.

As introduced, the Lowering the Cost of Prescription Drugs Act of 2026 would authorize the Mayor to establish a drug discount program by entering into a cooperative purchasing agreement with a prescription drug discount program for the purpose of lowering prescription drug costs for District residents

To declare the month of February 2026 as “Children’s Dental Health Month” in the District of Columbia, and to recognize the importance of oral health for children and the dedicated work of pediatric dentists and other oral health practitioners, educators, and caregivers across the District.

The legislation aims to advance the District’s commitment to protecting public health by addressing a gap in existing smoking restrictions by establishing a standard for multifamily housing. The bill was co-introduced by Councilmembers Charles Allen, Janeese Lewis George, Zachary Parker, Brooke Pinto, and Brianne K. Nadeau.

As introduced, E911 Modernization Amendment Act of 2025 would modernize the District’s 911 and 311 telecommunications tax and fees. It would update the structure and allowable uses of the Emergency and Non-Emergency Number Telephone Calling Systems Fund. It would also establish an updated service fee on telecommunication services to support the District’s emergency communication system.

As introduced, Streamlining Medicaid Credentialing Amendment Act of 2025 would require the Department of Health Care Finance to develop a single application process for providers seeking to be credentialed or recredentialed with a managed care organization. It would set timeframes and notice requirements for the Department of Health Care Finance to respond to applications.

The legislation would establish new criminal penalties for the distribution of sexually explicit images, videos, and audio created through artificial intelligence (AI), directly addressing the emerging digital-age harm of creating and spreading non-consensual AI-generated sexual content depicting real individuals.

Named in honor of disability rights pioneer Judith Heumann, the bill would establish the District Workers with Disabilities Program, a Medicaid Buy-In program that allows District residents with disabilities to maintain health coverage while earning income above Medicaid’s traditional limits as long as they pay affordable monthly premiums.

The legislation bolsters residents’ access to behavioral health crisis services in the District by establishing dedicated funding for the local 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline through a modest telecommunications surcharge.

The legislation would establish the Future Smiles Pilot program to provide a Level II Dental Assistant career preparation course and work experience for high school students enrolled at participating local educational agencies.
